LIVING TRADITIONS FESTIVAL

FESTIVAL LOCATION
Library Square and the adjacent Washington Square at 451 S. State Street, in downtown Salt Lake City.
SETUP INFORMATION
The Salt Lake City Arts Council will provide tents, tables and chairs. Additional requests for items such as power, tarps, etc may be requested in the form below and provided on an as-available basis. If you have any special setup requests for your tent, please include that information.
You will be able to set up your booth on Friday May 16th between noon and 5:00pm.
TIME COMMITMENT
We ask that all craft artists activate their booth for the duration of the festival, Friday through Sunday. Please do not pack up early.
ARTIST HONORARIUM
Each craft booth will be provided with an artist honorarium.
REVIEW & SELECTION PROCESS
The Living Traditions Festival celebrates many traditions and cultural heritage with festival goers. These art forms, often passed down over generations, reflect shared values and customs of a community expressed through artwork.
If accepted for the Living Traditions Craft Area, you agree to focus your attention on demonstrating your art form and engaging with the visitors. One of the key features of the Festival is the opportunity for visitors to have one-on-one interactions with traditional artists and see how their work is done. The Festival provides an honorarium for craft artists to support the goal of visitors meeting and interacting with traditional artists. The Living Traditions Festival strongly supports the social and economic value of traditional arts and recognizes the often vital role that active sales of art work have in the lives of artists and their families. Craft sales are allowed from your booth but must be secondary to demonstrating and speaking with visitors. Anything for sale in your booth must be handmade and representative of the traditional arts you practice, merchandise or mass produced items are not allowed in the Craft area.

Applications are reviewed by the Salt Lake City Arts Council festival staff and the Utah Division of Arts and Museum folk arts staff. The Salt Lake City Arts Council strives to make the selection process fair and equitable.
Artists must reside in the state of Utah.
APPLICATION SUPPORT
You may come to the Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Arts, located in the middle of Liberty Park, to complete an application with Jackson Medel. Please call or email Jackson using the contact information provided in this application to schedule an appointment.
We do our best to respond to inquiries in a timely manner, however we may not be able to respond to your inquiries in a timely manner during the final days prior to the interest form due date. Please give yourself ample time to complete the application.

INFORMACIÓN DE MONTAJE El Consejo de las Artes de Salt Lake City proporcionará carpas, mesas y sillas. Solicitudes adicionales, como electricidad, lonas u otros artículos, pueden indicarse en el formulario y se atenderán según disponibilidad. Si tienes necesidades especiales para el montaje de tu carpa, inclúyelas en la solicitud. Podrás montar tu puesto el viernes 16 de mayo entre las 12:00pm y las 5:00pm.
COMPROMISO DE TIEMPO Se solicita que todos los artistas artesanos mantengan su puesto activo durante toda la duración del festival, de viernes a domingo. Por favor, no desmontes antes de tiempo.

PROCESO DE REVISIÓN Y SELECCIÓN El Festival Living Traditions celebra muchas tradiciones y herencias culturales con el público asistente. Estas formas artísticas, a menudo transmitidas de generación en generación, reflejan valores y costumbres compartidas de una comunidad expresadas a través del arte. Si eres aceptado/a en el Área de Artesanías del Festival Living Traditions, aceptas enfocar tu participación en demostrar tu forma artística e interactuar con los visitantes. Una de las características principales del festival es la oportunidad de que el público tenga interacciones directas con artistas tradicionales y observe cómo se realiza su trabajo. El festival proporciona un honorario para apoyar este objetivo. El Festival Living Traditions apoya firmemente el valor social y económico de las artes tradicionales y reconoce el papel vital que la venta activa de obras de arte suele tener en la vida de los artistas y sus familias. Se permite la venta de artesanías desde tu puesto, pero esta debe ser secundaria a la demostración y la interacción con el público. Todo lo que se venda debe ser hecho a mano y representativo de las artes tradicionales que practicas. No se permiten mercancías ni artículos producidos en masa en el área de artesanías.
