SALT LAKE CITY ARTS COUNCIL

LIVING TRADITIONS FESTIVAL

The Living Traditions Festival supports the diverse artistic traditions and perspectives through the presentation of both historical and contemporary customs, facilitating thoughtful conversations about the unique qualities of various cultures, and the similarities of the human experience, while creating bonds among community members. https://saltlakearts.org/livingtraditionspresents/festival/


 

FESTIVAL DATES & HOURS

Friday, May 16 - School Day Program 9:00 a.m. – Noon

Friday, May 16 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 PM

Saturday, May 17 Noon – 10:00 PM

Sunday, May 18 Noon – 7:00 PM


 

FESTIVAL LOCATION

Library Square and the adjacent Washington Square at 451 S. State St. in downtown Salt Lake City.
 

SETUP INFORMATION

The Salt Lake City Arts Council will provide tents, tables and chairs. Additional requests for items such as power, tarps, etc may be requested in the form below and provided on an as-available basis. If you have any special setup requests for your tent, please include that information.

You will be able to set up your booth on Friday May 16th between noon and 5:00pm.


 

TIME COMMITMENT

We ask that all craft artists activate their booth for the duration of the festival, Friday through Sunday. Please do not pack up early.
 

ARTIST HONORARIUM

Each craft booth will be provided with an artist honorarium, to be determined, after the festival via direct deposit.
 

REVIEW & SELECTION PROCESS

The Living Traditions Festival celebrates many traditions and cultural heritage with festival goers. These art forms, often passed down over generations, reflect shared values and customs of a community expressed through artwork. Sales of folk art is allowed.

Applications are reviewed by the Salt Lake City Arts Council staff, Utah Division of Arts and Museum staff, as well as the Living Traditions Festival Advisory Committee which is made up of selected festival participants and members from the community. The Salt Lake City Arts Council strives to make the application and selection process fair and equitable.
 

APPLICATION SUPPORT

You may come to the Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Arts, located in the middle of Liberty Park, to complete an application with Ian Hallagan. Please call or email Ian Hallagan using the contact information provided in this application to schedule an appointment.

We do our best to respond to inquiries in a timely manner, however we may not be able to respond to your inquiries in a timely manner during the final days prior to the interest form due date. Please give yourself ample time to complete the application.
