SALT LAKE CITY ARTS COUNCIL

The mission of the Salt Lake City Arts Council is to promote, present, and support Utah-based artists, arts organizations, and arts activities in order to further the development of the arts community and to benefit the public by expanding awareness, access, and participation. https://saltlakearts.org/


 

LIVING TRADITIONS FESTIVAL

The Living Traditions Festival supports the diverse artistic traditions and perspectives through the presentation of both historical and contemporary customs, facilitating thoughtful conversations about the unique qualities of various cultures, and the similarities of the human experience, while creating bonds among community members. https://saltlakearts.org/livingtraditionspresents/festival/


 

FESTIVAL DATES & HOURS

Friday, May 17 - School Day Program 9:00 a.m. – Noon

Friday, May 17 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 PM

Saturday, May 18 Noon – 10:00 PM

Sunday, May 19 Noon – 7:00 PM


 

FESTIVAL LOCATION

Library Square and the adjacent Washington Square at 451 S. State St. in downtown Salt Lake City.
 

SETUP INFORMATION

The Salt Lake City Arts Council will provide tents, tables and chairs. Additional requests for items such as power, tarps, etc may be requested in the form below and provided on an as-available basis. If you have any special setup requests for your tent, please include that information.

You will be able to set up your booth on Friday May 17th between noon and 5:00pm.


 

TIME COMMITMENT

We ask that all craft artists activate their booth for the duration of the festival, Friday through Sunday. Please do not pack up early.


 

ARTIST HONORARIUM

Each craft booth will be provided with an artist honorarium, to be determined, after the festival via direct deposit or a check will be delivered in the mail.

REVIEW & SELECTION PROCESS

Interest forms are reviewed by the Salt Lake City Arts Council staff. Utah Division of Arts and Museum staff, as well as the Living Traditions Festival Advisory Committee which is made up of selected festival participants and members from the community. The Salt Lake City Arts Council strives to make the interest form and selection process fair and equitable. The Arts Council incorporates equity practices into the selection of the Living Traditions Festival Advisory Committee members, and the review process of interest forms.


 

APPLICATION SUPPORT

If you do not have access to computers or WiFi to apply, the Main Library Branch of the  Salt Lake City Public Library System offers free computer and WiFi access.

If you require further resources to complete the application materials or have other questions, contact Ian Hallagan at the info provided below.

You may also stop by the Art Barn offices (54 Finch Lane) in person Wednesday February 7, 14 or 21st from 3-5pm for open office hours, or by scheduling an appointment.

We do our best to respond to inquiries in a timely manner, however we may not be able to respond to your inquiries in a timely manner during the final days prior to the interest form due date. Please give yourself ample time to complete the application.
